Diary of a meditator…
If I reflect on my journey with meditation, I can't help but admit that it wasn't an easy path in the beginning. It felt uncomfortable, unfamiliar, and almost like a chore or something I would only turn to when I needed a moment of relaxation.
But meditation has become the cornerstone of my existence. Its impact on shaping my actions, reactions, and overall perspective on life is unparalleled.
Through this journey, I've learned to listen, observe, and understand myself and others on a deeper level. I've become more attuned to my thoughts, emotions, and the sensations that shape my bodily experiences, allowing me to acknowledge my humanity.
It's hard to explain the truly significant impact something so simple has had on my life, but I can't deny the power of sitting down each day and immersing myself in introspection, allowing the web of my beliefs to slowly unravel.
Sometimes people think that embracing meditation means neglecting other aspects of life or withdrawing from experiences and relationships, which I thought I would have to do in the beginning. But it's quite the opposite, actually. Meditation teaches you how to act rather than react, to listen deeply rather than just hear, and to respond with more compassion and kindness. It's about embracing your entire human experience and learning to see life from a fresh moment to moment.
What's truly beautiful about meditation is that it's not about sitting on a cushion and trying to make your mind still; it's about becoming a better human being. And the practice quickly transcends the confines of a seated practice, permeating into your movements, conversations, and interactions with others.
Although describing the true power of this simple practice can be challenging at times, I can say with unwavering conviction that if I could offer just one thing to every person in my life and every individual I encounter, it would be the gift of commitment—a genuine commitment to integrate meditation into their lives without allowing it to be overshadowed by other pursuits. Because without a shadow of a doubt, I know that it holds the key to true self-understanding and equips us with the necessary tools to navigate life's inevitable challenges.
That's why Isaac and I are on a mission—to contribute to the global transformation of our understanding of meditation and authentic spiritual contemplation.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Zana
